November 2024
Progress on the build is right on schedule, the floor pad has been poured and the brickwork is now well underway. The layout of the building is becoming clear so we’ve labelled the main spaces so you can visualise how it will look.
If you’ve been wondering what the deep excavation in the corner of the Millennium Field is, it’s for a soaraway for rain water from the roof.
National Grid Grant Awarded
November also welcomed the terrific news that we have been successful in our bid to the National Grid, and we have been granted £20,000 specifically to complete the kitchen and the bar/cafe servery areas.
Having initially taken this out of the contract with Rigg to keep our costs within the budget, we can now put this work back in. This means the ventilation, the electrical supplies and data provision for tills and all the other services, can be properly designed with the rest of the building and installed efficiently at the right time in the construction process. This design work for services needs to be started now - so this is very timely. We can now move ahead with more discussions with Rigg over the kitchen details.
Our fundraising challenge continues with three workstreams now hard at work on the external works and the landscaping, the technology such as Wi-Fi and audio visual as well as purchasing the furniture, fixtures and fittings needed to host village events, organisations and activities.
If you haven’t already “Bought a Brick” then this is an easy way to donate, and remember if you pay UK income tax, please don’t forget to add Gift Aid and allow us to reclaim an extra 25% in tax on every eligible donation made by a UK taxpayer.
Time will soon be running out as we must let the contractor know by Christmas how much space to leave for the bricks, so please “Buy a Brick” as soon as possible.
