December 2024

This time last year we were celebrating being awarded the first of the grants we would need to make the new building a reality. The clock had started to tick because we needed to have spent the £300,000 awarded by the Community Ownership Fund within twelves months or lose it.

There was a lot to do. We still had to find more funding, we had the design close to complete but the planning application still had to be submitted to Wiltshire Council and we needed to find a contractor to build the Hub.

Twelve months on, the build is on schedule and in budget for completion in June 2035, and we have spent the COF grant money. The walls of the new building are nearly up to the point where work on the roof can be started and the size of the internal spaces are becoming clear from the drone images.

The focus for fundraising is now on being able to buy all of the items we need to be able to use the building: furniture, crockery, cutlery, wifi, audio visual technology and fitting out of the kitchen. We will also need to finish the landscaping around the building. Read more about how you can help in the January issue of the Bromham Hoot.
